CCR Production

For my 2 CCR's I've decided to do a presentation-voiceover. Originally I wanted to produce something different such as, an interview with my sister who was included within our opening. But, time and different situations got in between that. So that lead to the decision of creating a presentation. 

When creating the first CCR I kept the words on the screen simple so that my voice would be listened to more instead of just reading words and sentences of a screen. I had the concept for the second CCR as well.

I edited all the work I did on Canva then created a script and inserted a the voice-over on Canva too. 

Throughout the entire presentations I tried to really express my answers to the CCR questions. I created and chose options that would fit my opening perfectly.

For Example:

I included CD's that represent Evan and his love for music. As well, I included pictures of films that I referenced so that viewers could have an idea of what is being talked about.

Lastly, since I had the idea to do an interview and created a script for it, I had to scratch the script almost entirely. I just used the same points and answers as the script but had to change the dialogue due to my sister not being apart of my CCR anymore. It is a big let down that I wasn't able to finish through with the interview since I had my mind set on that plan. On the other hand though, I'm enjoying creating the PowerPoint and trying to be as creative as I can with this project.

 Final Reflection

Going into my final portfolio project, the idea my partner and I had was set. We knew exactly what we wanted to with not much knowledge of how to actually produce it. At the beginning there was a little confusion on how we were going to begin the opening, but everything soon got figured out. Also, some issues were ran into during filming. Time and dates were the biggest obstacle we had to face. A couple times we had to reschedule and figure out when we could actually film. We also had issues with the angles and lighting techniques we were going to incorporate. The 360 camera stand I purchased wasn't tall enough and didn't give us the angle he had thought of. But everything got organized and figured out. We stacked notebooks under the camera stand, and we figured out the time and date we were going to film. The thing I really  learned through this project is that you have to make things work.

Not everything is going to be as easy as you want it to be. My partner and I had to brainstorm and decipher all the drawbacks that we were challenged with. And we ended up making everything work. This even connects to my production with the CCR's. At first I was so confused and worried on what I was going to do, and even how I was going to produce it. Time was a huge problem, every weekend I was traveling and playing in tournaments the entire day. But, I had to make things work. Originally I wanted to use my sister for my CCR's but she had work, which consumed majority of her time. So, I planned to create something different. I decided to stick with a voice over and commit all my time to that. I even had to skip practices and extracurriculars to have more time with this project. Overall, I think this project and my Aice Media class in general helped a lot with time management and just being focused on what's in front of me.

 CCR Question #3

CCR #3 - How did your production skills develop through this project?

Alex: Ok Cristina, (CCR Question - 3) 

Cristina: My production skills improved heavily!

 

Alex: Im glad! In what ways?

Cristina: Well throughout the entire process of filming my project it became easier to define what techniques and methods could represent my opening.

I also learned many new things when producing my project.

Alex: How so?

Cristina: I tried many different shots and lightings to see better outcomes of the opening. Like for the ending of my project.

I shot the same scenes at different times of day to see what would fit the representation of the film better.

My partner and I decided that the night-time shot gave a more chill and friendly fit, rather than in the day.

Also, the angle of the scene looked more pleasing.

Alex: I see that!

Cristina: Yeah! Angles were also a thing that was being played around with. Throughout the opening we implemented many different types of angles to show variation and change within the character.

Cristina: Haha, I know! Overall, I really did enjoy shooting this project and how it opened me up to new possibilities and ideas! 

This script is a rough draft as well. Time was a big issue since I was traveling and had a tournament throughout the entire week. When shooting the CCR I’m going to improve the script.

 CCR Question #2

CCR #2 - How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?

Alex: Alright! Next question for you. (CCR Question - 2)  

Cristina: That’s a great question! Well, our film opening engages with audiences through the way coming-of-age genre films do. 

Alex: I see, well what exactly does that mean?

Cristina: Coming-of-age genre films include movies like: The Perks Of Being A Wallflower and Waves.

Cristina: These types of productions connect with audiences through relatable and nostalgic journeys. As well as, through emotional and troubling experiences that occur through childhood to adulthood.

Alex: Could you tell me how you would distribute your film opening as a real media text?

Cristina: Sure! Well since I have very limited resources to produce my production mainstream, I would distribute my opening on YouTube.

 CCR Question #4

CCR #4 - How did you integrate technologies—software, hardware, and online—in this project?

Alex: Final question for you, (CCR Question - 4) 

Cristina: Ooo I like this question. For this project I actually purchased specific hardware to create the ending scene of our opening.

The product I purchased was a 360-rotating camera stand. It helped shoot the shot where all of Evan's friend, including himself, were in the car listening to his previously made song.

Alex: Ooo cool! Tell me more about how you used it!

Cristina: Of course! We tried setting up the stand in the center console of the car. The entire process was a bit complicated, as we had to stack the stand on notebooks and random stuff we found. It was a whole thing. 

Alex: Interesting, did you work with any software's?

Cristina: Yea actually! For the production label I used Canva to edit the label, then CapCut just to create an animation for the label.

 CCR Production Ideas

For my CCR I had a couple of different ideas. At first, I wanted to do a talk show after seeing an example in class. But, after some thought, I wasn't completely sure I wanted to go through with that.

After our second group meeting we discussed what everyone was going to do for their CCR's. Including me, most people were unsure of what they were going produce. Someone suggested to do something with music since that's what my film opening relates to. I agreed with her and added on that I could include my sister within the CCR because she is shown in my production. I'm also featured but not as much as her. So I started brainstorming on what I could create. 

Another thought I had was to have an interview with the main character, Evan. The only issue with that is I don't get to see him often and it would be hard to set a date to create the interview. As for my sister, I can create the video anytime. 

So, I would either have Evan or my sister Alex, who has a bigger part than the others within the opening, interview me and I would try to get as creative as I could.

Soon I will be creating the script for the entire CCR.

Editing Process #2

 Editing Process 

For this next post about editing, I want to show what we have so far. I do like how the product is coming out, and with more effort and work I think it could turn out even better. 

If you go to my other blog post on the editing process for our film opening, I think you could point out some of the opinions I had on the editing.

Here is the process of our production so far!

We still need some time to edit more and finish completely, but I'm not too worried about it. I believe that once we finish with editing our production, it would look really good. Also, there are still a few things we need to incorporate into the opening that were not finished with.

The things were missing include the credits, and including the title throughout the film. These will be quick tasks that we'll get over with soon. The "sample" video that I provided sits at 1 minute and 52 seconds, which I think is perfect. Once, we edit the title into the opening, it will stand right at 2 minutes. That is ideal because timing was a tiny obstacle that I was scared to run into.
